I am so over the same bland and boring promises of the finance and accounting industry.
We promise to:
be proactive in our work
to be trustworthy
to be professional
to be discreet/secure
blah blah blah
These are not promises that make you different... these are promises that are the basic tenants of being a fiance and accounting professional!
I mean come on, who's looking for a reactive advisor, a not trustworthy accountant, an unprofessional relationship, or a gossip? These aren't things people want in any relationship so let's stop putting this sh*t on our websites, please?
The promises I want to make to our clients are based in reality, built on the basic tenants of being a professional and make it clear what kind of relationship they are getting into.
Our MACKEY team promises to:
Put the health of our team and organization first. If we don't put our oxygen mask on first it's a zero-sum game. We won't have the mental and emotional bandwidth to deliver stellar work or the profits to reinvest in ourselves to enhance and increase our value.
Only provide services we are confident have value to you. We aren't in the business of compliance, tedium, or governance. We are in the business of transformation. We don't have time for that.
Only work with clients that are a values fit. Creating a community of growth & development-focused small businesses is our dream. It enhances our work, creates "aha" moments of cross-pollination, and increases the energy of the team (instead of sucking the energy out with the wrong work & clients).
Hold our boundaries fiercely. When we can't do something, we won't and we'll help you find the best resource to get your needs met. Think Macy's in Miracle on 34th Street.
Advocate for you relentlessly, even when it could risk our relationship. We will hold you accountable to the goals you set, we'll tell you when our spidey senses go off, and we'll provide you with tough love and lots of grace.
Fix our screw-ups (because we WILL make mistakes) and LEARN from them. We're the first to admit our flaws. When you're in the transformation business, things are messy. I 100% guarantee that we will screw-up at some point in our relationship, but we won't stop until we've corrected our error and we will make sure to assimilate any learnings we take away.
Seed our "expert" knowledge. If knowledge is power, we want to share it! Empowered and educated clients is our #1 goal. We will never use our expertise as a weapon to make you feel less than or withhold it to disempower you.
Always be open to feedback and criticism. We are in a relationship with our clients and healthy relationships require open, honest, and vulnerable communication.
Hold the vision & push ourselves and our clients to be the very best versions of ourselves.
Change the world. Entrepreneurism is the most creative force at our disposal within a capitalist society. We believe that creating more prosperous, confident, and financially fluent entrepreneurs can create a SEA change within the world for the better.
